The Milwaukee 0724 Cordless 28-volt 1/2 in. Hammer-Drill uses the Milwaukee built high power motor to develop an enormous 600 in. lbs. of maximum torque and 0-600/0-1800 rpm, ideal for drilling larger holes and driving larger screws faster! Powering the 0724 is the revolutionary 28-volt Lithium-Ion battery pack exclusively from Milwaukee. The 28-volt battery pack weighs less than an 18-volt pack yet delivers two times the run-time, making this the ideal solution for all drilling and driving needs! Only the Milwaukee battery can be inserted in the reverse position which allows for the ultimate balance when working overhead or in hard to reach areas. The 0724 comes standard with the industry's tightest gripping chuck: a 1/2-inch all-metal, single-sleeve, ratcheting chuck with all carbide jaws that keeps bits from falling out and drill bits from slipping! A comfortable non-slip, soft-grip handle reduces vibration and fatigue. The 0724 also comes standard with the patented Clip-Lok System. The Clip-Lok???? System attaches securely to the operator's belt or tool bags and easily releases with one hand, ideal for when working from a ladder or when there is nowhere to place the tool when adjusting or positioning a work piece. The Clip-Lok System also features an on-board bit holder which holds up to two standard Phillips bits. Includes two 28V batteries, 1-hour charger, carrying case, Clip-Lok System, side handle and #2 Phillips bit.

 "Power to Spare" 2010-01-12
By David John (northern Manitoba)
I too purchased this 28v hammer drill/driver as part of Milwaukee's four piece kit. I'm a DIY guy, not a contractor. I own a big 100 year old place. I've built a 6' fence, and am working on a playhouse / storage shed. I am building with rough cut birch from a saw mill that went out of business years ago. Between the 100 year old fir and this well seasoned birch my smaller drills lacked the torque to sink screws consistently.

Since I purchased this 28v drill, I have yet to meet it's match. It has never failed. I'm a big guy so the weight of this drill is not an issue. When going to a smaller drill, the smaller drill does feel very light after using this one. Having this drill has increased my productivity tremedously on these jobs that require the 600#'s of torque. It's nice to know the torque is there when needed.

The two batteries are plenty to keep you going as long a day as you are up to working. We live so far north that we have summer days with sunlight from 3:30am to 10:30pm. "Rome wasn't built in a day, but you can move a lot of cement in a day". You can get a lot done in a day with this tool. Yes, I love it.

"milwaukee 28volt drill, powerful but poorly built" 2009-10-29
By Morgan C. Reid (houston, tx)
I use this drill everyday, and i can tell you its a powerful drill. I bought this drill approximately one month ago and since that day have had the trigger sticking on a daily basis and have had the chuck screw fallout numerous times. I have been lucky enough to find it when it fallsout nearly evertime and i just put it back in. My supervisor owns the same drill and had to send his in for repair for the same problem but when his fell out so did the chuck and the chuck then broke.Well now i have lost the screw this time and decided that this is enough. Brought it back to the store i bought it from for an even exchange. Hope this drill changes my mind but as far as im concerned this drill is a safety hazard and its not just an isolated incident. Dont buy this drill if you want to keep your fingers and dont wanna waste the 400$ this high priced finger hazard of machine will cost you. BUY A DEWALT

The 18 volt was better by far I used the 28volt for the first month and it was fine but after that the charger stopped working and the batteries together stopped holding the charge. And believe me I take care of my tools, out of the cold when it's cold and charged properly as I do. NEVER AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!

 "ONE BAD [...] GUN" 2009-08-14
By Jimmy Morelli (South Boston, MA)
I reviewed the regular 18 volt by mistake so I copied the review and pasted it here. I had used Dewalt when I worked with the Teamsters years back, it was a good gun but it can not compare to this machine. The gun I had was the model with the hammer drill setting I used this gun for work, drilling into 1/4 steal colums as well as concrete on a daily basis and work it did. The torque this thing has is incredible, close to a corded gun, well not the ones we had, they'd snap your wrist if you weren't careful, but this has torque, 2x stronger than Dewalt in my book if not more. The veratility this gun has was a great advantage not to mention the life in its battery pack. If you charge it correctly to start these guns hold power, light work a battery could get you through a 10 hour day, heavy work, like hammer drill mode you would need 2 in a 10 hour day, which is great, guys with dewalts usually had 4 batteries and 2 chargers cause they needed it. I would of given this thing a 5 out of 5 but I blew the clutch after a year of hard abuse. Its not easy for any cordless gun to drill into concrete, even if they say they have hammer drill capabilities. That's why I gave it a 4 out of 5, the boss ended up replacing it with a refurbished model, worked just as good, he never sent the damaged one in for repair though always wondered why. If I had the money right now I would buy this gun, no questions asked. My 12 year old Dewalt I have at home has seen better days.

 "One Great Worklight!" 2010-03-15

"Good beam pattern, but mediocre otherwise" 2009-12-27
By Bud
The best part about this flashlight is that it has a very usable beam pattern. It has a wide spot broadening out to a flood with a very usable spill beam. This makes it good for working in close quarters. Many other flashlights have a very narrow spot light which may impress you with its intensity, but overall is poor because you are not using this type of flashlight in a search-and-rescue. It is for broad illumination in an electric box, under a dashboard, under a sink, etc. Without a good beam pattern, you are constantly having to adjust the aim. For beam pattern, I give it 4 stars.

As others have noted, the magnet is nearly useless. It only works in a vertical position and is too often confused with the power switch. In using the magnet once, it fell giving a good crash to the floor. I bet it won't survive too many of those.

The head pivots from 90 degrees horizontal to vertical. This is vastly better than popular "mag" flashlights that only point in one direction. This one will stand on end and can be aimed. The base of the standard battery is small, so it is easily tipped. Milwaukee makes an M12 XC battery with twice the capacity which makes this flashlight much more stable, but unfortunately Amazon doesn't carry this battery yet. (The XC is a great battery.) There are, however, many other competing work lights which have the ability to aim down. This is very useful for shining light down into something. This one won't do that.

My main reason for giving this only 3 stars, though, is as follows. Milwaukee puts a 14.4V bulb in this. It says to use only 12V bulb 49-81-0020, but alas, this is a 14.4V bulb. The impact of this is significant as the light is a dim, yellow beam, perhaps only 50% as bright as if it was a 12V XPR bulb in there. Electrically, it is only drawing only 69% of what it would at 14.4V, but maybe this is to cut down on heat. Because of the lower voltage, however, more of that 69% is just going to heat. I may try to salvage this a star by putting in a 12V bulb from DeWalt. But, I shouldn't have to. Note that Milwaukee does not sell a 12V in any of their line.

I also have their M12 LED light, and while having the same magnet flaws, etc., the beam is much better, probably the best I have seen in a small flash light/work light.

"Great light but it gets hot!" 2009-06-01
By The Accretion Desk (Under the Big Sky, Montana)
I love this little light, but the bulb technology gets way hot. Once while working under a dashboard with it, I put the back of my arm into the front of the light. Youch!

Also, the battery is on par with conventional flashlights but I'm used to LED performance now. Something this size would do better as an LED rather than Xenon.

But overall, I recommend it if you already have the battery system.

 "Amazon saved the day" 2010-02-12
By Will Plotner Jr.
I initally bought two set of tools and gave one set to my dad for Christmas. Upon setting up he had the bolt that sets the circular saw blade break off in the saw. I contacted Amazon and would you believe had set to me within 3 working days. They gave me 30 days to get the broken one back, but got us a new set that fast. WOW! They also provided a packing label for UPS or FEDEX (I can't remember) so we didn't have to pay chipping for the new set or the broken set to get back to AMAZON.

This is a credit to both the retainer (Amazon) and I assume the manufacturer for staning behind their product.

I'm a true believer and very satisfied with the tools since this little incident.

 "These Things are Terrible!" 2009-12-11
By Michael T. Ogburn
I received the tools on a Thursday and was excited about them as I usually am when I get new tools. Put the battery on the charger figured after 30 minutes I could see how they worked. Since that's what I have seen with all of the other Li-ion battery tools. After 30 minutes nothing happened no power tried the flashlight the drill and the saw in case it was the particular tool. Then I ran to town to grab some dinner. Tried the other battery when I got back nothing happened again. Well I gave it one last shot let one of the batteries charge overnight. Again this morning nothing happened. I have had milwaukee stuff before and liked it very much. But this set is the biggest joke I have ever ordered and they are going back.

I bought the 2401-20 driver drill. Nice, convenient tool. It came with this charger. Unfortunately the charger died (similar symptoms as another reviewer here). What really frustrated me was the warranty service. I called my local serivce center and they asked me to produce the receipt. Remember that this product has a 5-year warranty, and has been in the market for <1 year. I'm basically S*O*L unless I can produce the receipt. Very un-impressive for a company that used to produce the most rugged tools on a jobsite.

"Works great - 5 stars - if you get a good one" 2009-08-30
By Brian J. Buehler (Michigan, USA)
Having purchased both the M12 drill and Hackzall kits, I've had 3 of these chargers in my posession. Only 1 worked perfectly out of the package. The first charger (with the drill kit), thought both battery packs were defective. Amazon sent me a new kit - with it's charger, all battery packs charged fine. Wanting more batteries and another charger, I ordered the Hackzall kit. Inserting the first battery to charge again lit the faulty pack lights. Looking into the charging well, one of the extra 3 sensor contacts was bent down flat on the bottom of the well. Bending it back got the charger working. While it's great that it was a simple problem, a factory fresh charger should not have a problem with functioning.

When I took the charger with the bent contact apart (T10 security bit), the inside of the charger seemed well designed. The case seems to be made of polycarbonate and the circuit boards are the high quality glass variety. There is no potting compound over the circuit parts like in the V18/28 chargers though. Also, the plug on the M12 charger is not a pass through like on the V18/28 chargers.

If Milwaukee sorts out the bugs and sends you a working charger, it's probably a 5 star device (it even has slots on the back for wall mounting!).

"Great work light, much more useful than I anticipated!" 2010-03-27
By Matthew D. Smith
I recently bought the Milwaukee 2694-24 M18 4 Tool Combo Kit here on Amazon for a great price, and I figured I would review each tool that comes in this kit once I have had a chance to use it more than just a few times or after I test it on a few jobs, then I can more accurately give my feedback on each tool as well as the kit as a whole, which as I can say after only two days of ownership the kit is this far a 5 out of 5 in my book.

I am starting by reviewing the work light because besides the drill it is the tool I have used the most thus far! I have not had a chance to give the Sawzall or Circular Saw true tests yet beyond making a few cuts. Anyway this work light has exceeded my expectations, usually these are thrown in with a combo kit just so they can call it a 4 tool kit instead of 3 and they typically are more of an afterthought than a useful tool that you grab for often. But this light has a few cool features that separate it from some of the others. First off it is very light weight yet still doesn't feel too cheap esp. once you get the battery on it. It has nice thick rubber material all over it so it is easy and to grip and feels nice in your hand, it also has rubber around the plastic lens which could prevent it from shattering should the light sustain a fall, but I am sure the plastic is shatter resistant anyway. The pivoting head is nice as well, it has 12 different positions that it can go into and it makes a nice click sound so you know. It can also be positioned straight up which I find very useful, not only for ceiling work/painting but lighting an entire dark room, when you point it straight up and place it in the middle of the room it gives you the candle effect and does it very well due to its huge beam pattern.

As for the lights output, well it is extremely bright to say the least, much brighter than I expected. I have not used a ton of portable work lights but I cant really see needing anything brighter than this unless you work in a coal mine all day. As mentioned it also has a huge beam pattern that will cover an entire wall easily. I am happy about this because I was a little disappointed when I learned it did not have an LED base bulb but honestly that is not as big of a concern now that I have used it, although I do prefer the white light output of an LED to the yellow tint that a Xenon bulb produces. As you probably already know the built in hook is very thoughtful as well as useful, it folds away into the body of the light. I find myself driving a screw into a stud just to have someplace to hang the light off of. Although it is plenty stable sitting on the ground, esp. with the XC battery. I should also mention I tried both the XC battery and the smaller compact 48-11-1815 battery and there is no visible difference in light output, just how long it lasts I assume but even with the compact battery it must last a long time because I left it on for an hour by accident and it was only down to 3 bars on the battery gauge, I think I read that it should go for 5 hours with the XC battery so around 3 with the smaller one would be my guess and that is very good IMO.

There are really only a few minor cons I can think of, I mean this is only a work light after all, you can't find too much wrong with it if it works well. But for one thing it does indeed get a little toasty to the touch as another review mentioned. I am not surprised that a bulb putting out this much light is going to generate some heat, it is not a cause for concern. You are not going to burn yourself touching it and it will not affect anything, just something to keep in mind. Also another nitpick here is that the hook opening is only just under an inch and a quarter making it too small to hook around some stuff that you would like it to hang from, for example I was working in a closet and it would not hang from the clothes rod, again this is just nitpicking, overall it is a great light that is extremely bright and seems like it will hold up over the years durability wise. I am giving the light a 4 overall mainly because I think that they should be using LED's in all of their lights now, the M12 line has them and Milwaukee advertises their M18 LED light as being able to last for 12 hours on a single charge which doesn't surprise me but that is double the rated run time of this light which would be nice and as I already mentioned I prefer the white light output of an LED lamp.

By K.C. (Long Island,NY)
This Worklight does not come with batteries, so if you don't have M18 batteries you will have to buy them and a charger separately. Worklight is very bright. I hooked up a M18XC battery and turned the light on and it stayed lit for hours without draining the battery. I finally shut it off so I didn't burn up the bulb (it only comes with one). The head pivots and there is a hook to hang it from making it very versatile. A magnet, like on the previous version would have been nice but it doesn't have one. Great rechargeable flashlight.

"Awesome Product, Long Life Batteries, Quick Charging" 2010-04-01
By Anthony L. Bowers
I have owned several electric screwdrivers in the past. All have had big limitations. Typical problems were:

- didn't hold a charge for very long during use

- would loss their charge during uses

- the batteries would eventually die and cost too much to replace, if you could even find them

- would not have enough power

- power would not be adjustable enough

- would be awkward to hold

- would take too long to charge

- slow turning

I got this unit on Amazon over a year ago and have not experienced any of the above problems. Quite the opposite. It is one of the best made power tools (I guess you can call this a 'power' tool, he he) that I have ever used.

It has plenty of power and can be finely adjusted. I have never timed it, but I think a battery charges in less than 30 minutes, well before the other battery in the unit will run down. One very neat thing - it has a 5 step gauge to let you know how much battery life is left in the battery while you are using it!

It's been awhile since I purchased it, so I am not positive, but I think it only came with one screwdriver head, a phillips. I would have liked for it to have came with a set of 3 phillips and 3 flat screwheads, of different sizes. That and the price are the only downsides. It is a bit pricy for an electric screwdriver.

Course, you can purchase a very nice Milwaukee screwhead set for about $10, which I have now done. So, I now have all that I need.

And, yes... as several people have said. 'How did I do ever do without this item?' I use it all the time.

I highly recommend it.

 "Milwaukee Electric Screwdriver" 2010-01-21
By Billy R. Tolbert
Bought this screwdriver as a replacement for another brand that I used that had broken. The Milwaukee was a bit pricey, but it was worth it because of its adjustable torque, the batteries last a long time and the interchangeable hub. I repair copiers and turning screws all day really makes my wrist sore. That is why I use the electric screwdriver. I would recommend the Milwaukee screwdriver for all the mentioned features and the fact that it will last for a very long time. Also, should it need maintenance, a repair facility is readily available unlike my old screwdriver. If you need an electric screwdriver, I would get this one.

 "good screw driver" 2009-11-29

this tool is not bad in my opinion. this is only the second screw driver i've owned, so don't let my opinion persuade you too much. previous to this milwaukee i had dewalt. this thing is ONLY good for removing and screwing in screws that were removed. not good for drilling, or screwing screws into new holes.
