 "milwaukee v28 issues" 2009-12-19
By Jeanie M. Beazley
i've been using the v28 line since they came out. i have a 4 piece combo. i am disappointed in the line all together. when i first got them, i was impressed. but after using them for several years, they are aggravating. milwaukee has an issue with their battery. i lost treack a long time ago how many i have went thru. if you are lucky, you will get about a year and a half. the tool distributor has always exchanged them no questions asked, but it is very annoying to have to keep returning them. in fact, i bought a spare just so i can keep 2 goin all the time. i have never seen or heard of any of these getting over 500 recharges while milwaukee claims 2000. i wished they would have done test studies before releasing them. i guess thats why dewalt waited almost 2 years before releasing theirs. i have a dewalt 36 volt kit i use regularly and have had no problems with batteries. the only problem i have had is the drill chuck exploded once. it was repaired free of charge. i have used the kit for about 20 months. the rplacement chuck looked improved. beware, if using holesaws, MAKE SURE you use the solid shank arbors, as the self tightening chuck will crush the hollow shank lenox very soon. so my opinion would be go with the dewalt over milwaukee.

I use this battery to power the Milwaukee job site radio and it does a great job. It has plenty of power and charge lasts a long time. Also, it charges up very fast(45 minutes) and love the built in battery strength lites. All in all, a quality product but not cheap. Nothing good rarely is.

 "Milwaukee V28 system" 2008-12-16
By Norm Abrams (Portland, Or)
I have multiple V28 tools. I am very pleased with their performance. As my old battery powered tools give up, I will replace them with Milwaukee. A hard learned lesson, do not take any Li Ion battery down to absolute zero. It harms the cells. Despite my mistake, the battery still charges, it is just quirky and the service center pronounced it dead (yes, it still works). Milwaukee's warranty on their batteries is great. The battery remembers when it was charged the first time, and your warranty counts down from there. Although Milwaukee will prorate after 2 years, it is prorated based on list price, so you are better off buying replacements from Amazon

 "Fantastic Performance" 2010-03-22
By B. Faulkner
I have a multi-tool M18 kit along with three of these M18 XC batteries. They've been used and abused my me and all my helpers while building a house. The tools have been dropped and kicked around at times, and I've cringed as I've watched tools fall and direct hits taken by the batteries. The little Milwaukee circular saw took a 15' plunge (a new table fixed it) and the battery had a ding indicating it had taken a hit also. I saw the drill/driver take two direct hits. To no avail. They all still lock on properly, they all work properly, they all recharge very quickly.

They've been drained to nothing, or been run for just a little bit then topped off. It seems to make no difference, as they all seem to be running tools just about the same duration after one year of use. The little 1/4" impact driver has seen an insane amount of screws, thousands of 2-1/2" torx, 5,000 1-1/2" washer heads, 250 7" torx lags, 500 5" torx lags, and on and on (that little Milwaukee impact driver is an animal). It really was shocking to see how long these batteries would run these screws before needing a charge/change. Tons of sawzall work, tons of circular saw work, tons of drill/driver work.

Only one trick to keep in mind during cold winters and subzero temperatures... The battery charger will give a blinking LED indication if the battery is too cold to recharge. This happened when we were pushing through temps around zero. We took the batteries into warmth each night when we shut down, topped them all off, so that they were all warm and raring to go in the morning. During the day we just put the battery in the charger (a warm area) and within a few minutes it was up to temperature and quickly recharging.

I really, really, value the Milwaukee M18 cordless line and batteries and recommend them wholeheartedly.

 "18V Battery" 2010-01-29
By William Reese (Simi Ca.)
I have no idea why they have discontinued this type of battery. Most of us don't either. Yes it's heavy. But come on... So many of us want not only run-time, but have these great tools that work only with them.(Price keeps going up on the batteries, while the tool price goes down). If the M series (batteries) worked with both formats, we'd all be happy!!! If it's 18 volts, make them compatable. Or you WILL lose many more customers! (They are great tools!)

THE 18V DRILL I BOUGHT HAD VERY LITTLE USE AND IT WAS GOING TO BE SOLD AS SOON AS I COULD FIND A BUYER WILLING TO PAY MORE THAN YARD SALE PRICE. THEN I CAME ACROSS THE AD FOR THE LITHIUM BATTERIES AND CHARGER AT A FANTASIC PRICE. IT WAS CHEAPER FOR TWO BATTERIES AND CHARGER THAN THE PRICE OF ONE BATTERY LOCALLY. I'VE BEEN WELL SATISFIED WITH OTHER PURCHASES FROM AMAZON SO I GAVE IT A SHOT.SO FAR THEY HAVE PERFORMED EXTREMELY WELL AND I'M GLAD I KEPT THE DRILL. I STILL WILL NOT BUY ANOYHER MILWAUKEE PRODUCT. THER ARE MANY OTHERS OUT THERE WITH PRODUCTS JUST AS GOOD AND WITH BETTER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. I TRY TO BUY AMERICAN WHENEVER POSSIBLE , BUT MILWAUKEE SOURED ME WITH MY PURCHASE

"Lithiun-ion technolegy is here to stay" 2009-12-06
By Keith Menges (Castro Valley, CA)
The performance is phenomenally better than the NiCad batteries. They don't slowly run out of charge like the NiCad. Mind you, this is compared to my 4 year old NiCad batteries, which still perform OK.

The charge level gauge is cool. Don't know if I will really use it.

The newer latching system is a welcome change from the older NiCads. My older batteries can be difficult to remove.

The lighter weight alone is worth the purchase. It changes the balance of the tool, but not a problem, more like a bonus.

The price and delivery were as I have come to expect from Amazon, very good.

The Lithium-Ion Batteries Combo Pack is the way to go. This has been a great up grade to very good tool line. The 4+ star reviews are well earned.

"Milwaukee abandoned the customer, sad" 2009-08-05
By mad G.I.
Well I have had my set of 18v tools from milwaukee for over 8 years. The original nicad batteries stink, and everyone, including milwaukee knows it. I am a veteran, disabled, and now living in the philippines. I sent the old batteries home with a friend of mine, because their customer service led me to believe that mine were on a recall list (by the way, this was the 3rd set I had bought from them) I just found out that they are not on the list, so I have no real chance of getting new batteries, that will not break my limited, fixed income budget. I can't do much anymore anyway, but it would have been nice to have those tools around, and functioning, when small projects did come up. But with these new, more powerful, and better quality batteries only going up in price, I just can not afford to buy them, and have them shipped half way around the world. I will be better off just throwing the entire, fully functional kit into a dumpster, and buying locally here in the philippines.

I know it is not their job to take care of every last customer, but they knew all along that the old style batteries were junk, and they never supported them. You can find many reviews that attest to this fact, and now that they have something that can bring your old tools back to life, they are going to make sure you have to pay for them, through the nose. Maybe they are just trying to price them so high, that you will just buy whole new tool sets from them? Well they got one thing right, I will just buy a whole new tool set, but it will most certainly not be with them, I will choose another company to give my pain money too, can you say dewalt?

UPDATE, these now cost about 200 dollars, Miliwaukee stinks, and have certainly lost my business forever! I have contacted them directly, and they just don't care about customer loyalty or satisfaction. This is such a shame, I would love for them to explain away the doubling of the price of a product with a straight face, great tools, PATHETIC COMPANY...............

Having been an avid owner of quality Milwaukee tools for many years I've become the local "Expert" when any neighbor in my area intends to invest in any tool for their shop.

As expected, the Milwaukee Mdl. 0880-20 18-volt Cordless Wet/Dry Vacuum does not disappoint in performance or quality.

The portability, light weight, versatility and ruggedness of this tool is outstanding. A continuous run time of 8-10 minutes should suffice for any small, wet/dry quick pick-up job. This is exactly what this tool was designed to accomplish. Anything more and one should be getting the "Shop Vac" anyway.

I'll never cease to be amazed at the consistency of the quality of Milwaukee items. And, they continue to succeed in selling their line of tools at competitive prices.

Buy it. You'll like it.

Purchased this as a compliment to my other Milwaukee tools running V18 batteries. It ran like a champ out of the box and has an amazing amount of power to drive long wood screws which is what it was primarily purchased for. It is fairly heavy compared to some of the newer models but it is a great tool at a great price.

 "The greatest" 2010-01-21
By Mr. Fred (PA)
I have read other reviews that speak of how this driver compares to other brands. I have no experience with any other brand drivers. All I know is this impact driver has amazed me how easy it drives 3" deck screws into pressure-treated 2-by lumber. Before getting this impact driver I was using an 18v cordless drill and-several times-even with a full charge-I was not able to get the screws the whole way in unless I predrilled holes first. No holes are necessary with this driver. It just runs them in as tight as you want with no holes. It was worth every penny it cost.

 "good purchase" 2009-12-24

great deal on this impact drill, since i already have the whole v18 kit. The impact drill is much more efficient drilling holes in wood to run wires through. I get much longer life from the battery, also the drill bit does not have to be as sharp as compared to drilling with the regular drill. It does not turn as fast when in impact mode, but nothing will stop it!

So i returned the two items to a very nice company [Hardware Sales] and hopefully ordered to proper battery and charger from you guys. You guys are great to deal with and I only wish the government operated as effectively as you guys. So the tool will probably be great once I get the right battery for it. Thanks

 "Perfect pocket drill" 2010-02-17

After delighting in my decision to buy a big Milwaukee hammer drill recently, I decided to buy one of these for my wife to use with her property management company - it is light and small enough to literaly fit in her purse. Of course, I have used it exclusively since!

I just got back from a job screwing dozens of 2 1/2" #12 screws through mutliple boards. This little thing handled the job without a hick-up. The power enclosed in the tiny, egg-sized batteries is phenomenal. And, as with the bigger tool, the spacious case is a delight for holding all sorts of extra stuff. Bravo to Milwaukee for all the little touches that make these drills a joy to use.

I own 3/8 and 1/2 inch dewalt drills which are corded, and use them for heavy duty projects on a regular basis. There is no substitute for plugging into a wall outlet when it comes to power, and they will last forever, but I needed a light, compact, cordless drill for small jobs and for portability. This drill fits the job description perfectly. It works so well, my corded drills may not see much use anymore, as it performs 90% of the tasks my "powerhouse" drills can do. It has its limitations, in terms of power and charge capacity, but really, most non-professional users will not begin to tax the limits of this drill. It's really a great tool, and shows how far cordless tools have come. I have no complaints and no suggestions for improvements. Great drill!

This is one of the best cordless drills I have owned. This drill replaces my dewalt 18v ,which was getting to heavy and awkward for small jobs. This drill will be able to do both small and large jobs with the power it has. It is solidly built and made to last. The light on the drill comes in handy when working in cabinets or closets. I like the battery meter on the side of the drill to keep track of usage. I would recomend this drill for anyone looking for a powerful but lightweight cordless drill.
